OUR STORY

"I was born at an early age...on my birthday. I celebrated my birthday by coming out."

When I was about 10 years old, everyone in the neighborhood was getting crew cuts. My mother cut my hair very short and as it grew back in it stuck straight up. My brother teased me and called me a hedgehog, which later got shortened to "hedge." Later my sister added "wick" to the end.

 

Hence my nickname became "Hedgewick."

 

As the years passed I grew fond of the name because of its uniqueness. After going to England as a young man and seeing all the "wicks" and "shires" in names I felt it was an appropriately English nickname for my future woodwork and design company.
